Maar het interessante zit er tussen; langs de naad, waar de bijenwas goed uitgesmeerd is (warm) is het in een paar minuten droog.
Ik heb dus rond de kuip, ook maar bijenwas over de lijnolie gesmeerd en dat is nu mooi droog. Wellicht is het deze zomer bij 30 graden weer vloeibaar, maar dat zien we dan wel weer.

Een andere tip die ik gelezen heb, is de bijenwas al in de deknaad aan te brengen tijdens het oprollen en afwerken.

Ik zou echter niet weten hoe ik het veel lichter had kunnen maken. De gunwales en dekbalken, zijn maar 18mm dik. Red Ceder ribben zouden wellicht minder wegen dan essen. En het 12 mm multiplex in de beide punten, zou misschien dunner gekund hebben, maar of ik daar al met al een kg met bespaard had, betwijfel ik. Geen idee hoeveel gewicht er nog uit de lijnolie dampt. 555cm is natuurlijk ook zwaarder, dan een bootje van 520cm Maar 17 kg is goed hanteerbaar.
Gemaakte ‘voutjes’; Je moet met je kont tussen 2 ribben zitten en ik zit boven een rib, vandaar de(extra) zitlatjes. De draaglussen (voor en achter) moet je installeren (boren), voor je de boel dicht naait. Nu heb ik de leren banden er maar opgeschroefd. Aan de achterkant van de kuip staat zoveel spanning op, dat ik daar voorlopig helemaal niet ga boren. als ik achterover ga liggen neemt die spanning alleen maar toe, omdat ik een 'floating coaming' heb gemaakt. d.w.z. de dekbalk achter de kuip is verlaagd geplaatst, zodat de kuiprand nog een stuk naar beneden kan, als je er op gaat liggen. Dit was één ven de redenen voor zelfbouw.
Nu is het grote wachten begonnen, tot het droog is. De siccatief lijkt te werken; na 24 u voelen enkele plekken al wat droger aan.

Vandaag begonnen met de 'skinning'. Ik begrijp niet, dat iedereen zo moeilijk doet en probeert de stof over de kiellijn te spannen. Ik heb gewoon de bovenlengte genomen, 2 zakjes (voor de punten) er in genaaid, via de bovenkant, het doek gespannen van punt tot punt en toen het doek onder de kiel doorgetrokken. Doordat het hout lekker in de olie zit, glijd dat goed. punt tot punt is aan de bovenkant een stuk korter, dan via de kiellijn gemeten, Dus het zit meteen rete-strak.

De motor doet het inmiddels alweer. Het koste me alleen 4 uur om de moer los te krijgen, om een nieuw zaagblad te monteren. Zelfs warm stoken hielp niet, dus uiteindelijk de moer eraf geslepen. Zo even een nieuwe halen.

De ribben ga ik eerst proberen te buigen van vers essenhout. (ik heb hier genoeg essen bomen staan). Ik ben een aantal ribben nodig van 0,7x3x80cm Waarom zou je droog hout kopen, weken laten weken, en stomen, terwijl je het vers van de boom waarschijnlijk zo buigt.
Nu heb ik de leren banden er maar opgeschroefd.
